Some Don’ts While Driving a Rented Car in Paxos Island

The idea of going for holiday brings a smile on the face of every member in the family, as it is the time when all of them are free to enjoy quality time with each other. Going through this reason the suggestions from all the members of the family are required to decide the venue of going on holiday. Once the venue is decided the next step is to book the air-tickets, packing the bags, and search for the places to visit at that particular location, along with the availability of transport facility. 

Interestingly, nowadays the trend of renting a car during vacations has gained huge popularity across the world. Renting a car not only facilitates you to enjoy comfort travel to different locations of the venue you are visiting but also protects you from the crowd present in the public transport facilities. Moreover, it also protects you to adjust your travel schedule according to the time table of available transport. Keeping all these benefits in concern most of the tourists prefer to rent a car during their holidays.

If you are visiting Paxos Island in Greece, and plan to rent a car to visit the island and its surrounding areas, then you will find a plethora of car rental services in Paxos, renting the car to the visitors on demand. Undoubtedly, renting a car is not a bad idea but there are certain mistakes which should be avoided while driving a rented car in Paxos Island, Greece.

  1. Don’t Drink and Drive: Drinking and driving are prohibited in the entire world, and anyone who is found doing is sent behind the bars. Interestingly, Paxos Island is not an exception to it. Here also you might be punished and sent in the jail if you are found drunk while driving. It is seen that as Paxos is the smallest island in Greece, people do not consider this rule seriously and drive according to their wish. Here, it would be important to mention that even if you find locals driving and drinking, do not attempt to do this. Because the tourists are always on the target of local police. Even if you wish to drink while travelling then let you co-driver drive the car.
  2. Don’t Overtake: Most of the highways in Greece have one-way lane and, the same is in Paxos Island. However, there are some routes which have two lanes and taking its advantage the locals overtake the vehicle running ahead of them. But, being a tourist doing this can be risky for you. Because, the people in Greek do not follow any traffic rules, and therefore there are chances that while you overtake them, they can hit your car.
  3. Drive According to Allowed Limit: The driving limit for the car in urban areas is 50 km/hour, but people in Greece are always in a hurry to drive without following the traffic rules. Thus driving above this speed could be dangerous and increases the chances of accidents.
  4. Don’t be Nervous: Paxos Island is mainly a hilly area, although the roads are in good condition, but as referred Greek people do not follow the traffic rules and regulations. There are lots of turns, some of them are very deep, and might scare you. Don’t be threaten by these turns and curves and enjoy the beautiful view of surrounding areas by driving relaxed and calm. 
  5. Satellite Navigation: It is seen, that considering the geographical area of Paxos Island, lots of tourists do not prefer to have satellite navigation in their vehicle. They feel that as the island is small and they will not face any problem while returning. Doing this can be risky because there are lots of places where the GPS of your mobile network may not work, and during the night this might create a problem for you. Thus, having satellite navigation in the car will help you in locating the place of your stay without any difficulty.
